What a novel idea!

I was exploring around in 43Things.com.  If you haven’t gone there yet, you really should.  It is like having a large to do list; however, it is out there on the net.  Wouldn’t necessarily put your grocery list on there — or anything extremely personal (breaking up with my boyfriend, for example) — but, a general goal list for yourself – ways to improve your quality of life, or the lives of others is absolutely perfect for this on going list.  I haven’t put 43 Things yet on my list there, but it is growing (and shrinking as I mark things done off) constantly.

At any rate, while on 43Things.com, I discover a link to The Petri Project, which then leads me to the link for Vocation Vacations, part of the reason surfing on the net can become so very interesting!!

This is a place where one can explore, for example, other options to career paths if you are feeling that you have capped out at your career, feeling that the “life” of the career has been dimmed for some time, feeling that you are never going to reach any degree of potential in your present career — and, instead, you are finding yourself saying, “If only I had taken this (or that) career, life would be so different”, or “If only I had a way to work myself into a new career, I would jump out of this one in a heartbeat”, etc., etc.

This is a place where you can take a look at your “dream job” and explore the possibilities, even taking a vacation from your present lack luster job and truly get a hands on experience in your dream job to see if you would still consider it worth pursuing one day soon.

Go explore Vocation Vacations at your earliest convenience if you are even remotely dissatisfied with your present job and dream of all the possibilities and, possibly, even start putting it into action!!

and its coffee and end tables so quickly on Craigslist has certainly encouraged me to go ahead and place the glass dining room table on Craigslist as well.

At the beginning of many of the Craigslist postings is the disclaimer, “Avoid scammer fraud”, and it provides one with some very helpful tips:

Avoiding scams and fraud craigslist help forum

You can sidestep would-be scammers by following these common-sense rules:

DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON – follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts on craigslist.

NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service – anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.

FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.

CRAIGSLIST IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer “buyer protection” or “seller certification”

NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)

AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL “GUARANTEE” YOUR TRANSACTION.

Unfortunately, the first bite I had on my dining room set appears to be from one of these scammer folks. I simply responded to him, “Where are you? I normally deal with local people.” Hopefully, this will end the conversation there and will enable me to get a true buyer.

Caveat emptor. (Buyer be aware.)

Perhaps, what should also be said…”Seller be aware of buyers with crooked mouths!”

😀

In the meantime, I am not giving up on my dining room set being sold soon. Next up!!! 😀

on Craigslist was quite effective. Less than a week after posting the ad, they are so out of my apartment. Yea!!

(Dancing in the extra space formed by their departure, along with the departure of the extra coffee and end tables!!!)

Now, I will be able to move the island in my kitchen created by stacking 12 large tubs on top of each other in a squarish formation to where the old couch was and not in view of guests at my apartment. 😀

Yea…

More soon….

Singing with joy in the meantime….

Next up, is selling a glass dining room table, I think; but, first thing is first in moving some stuff around… 🙂

I worked for Michael Dell back in the day when it was known as PC’s Limited (off of N. Lamar and Hwy 183),  an Austin, Texas based computer company, as its 13th employee and enjoyed the transition of its growth to Dell Computer Corporation, which is now known simply as DELL.

Opening up the Austin American Statesman newspaper today to the Business Section while getting some breakfast to go at the local IHOP, I read about the City of Leander’s progress business projects and looked further down on the section’s first page and see “Dell gets until July 16th to report finances”.  Apparently, DELL hasn’t filed its financials for more than four quarters.

According to Dan Zehr, American Statesman Staff, “The NASDAQ has allowed Dell shares to continue trading despite the company’s failure to file reports with federal regulators after each of the past four quarters.  Exchange rules require that companies keep current on their reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission, but the exchange often grants reprieves for companies investigating accounting issues.”  Apparently, Dell isn’t disclosing the investigations at this time.  Even in March, the filing of its Annual Report had been delayed.

Things are sounding a bit shaky for Dell at this time.  Hopefully, they will be able to rebound from this struggle soon.

Any thoughts???

Well, if you are like this guy, you can creat a webcam for your cat to see “just where does he go” when he goes out and play—See Mr. Lee’s Catcam. It is hilarious to see just where all this cat does go on his adventures outdoors. Be sure to look down at bottom of the initial page for a series of photos from Mr. Lee’s trip (adventures!).

As for me, I am wondering how do my cats, who seem to turn into Dr. Seuss’s “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” while I am gone, seem to always manage to pull the curtain down in the living room, for instance, here lately!! Actually, they shouldn’t be doing that any more as I have nailed the spring rod into the inner portion of the window frame. If they try, they will be in for a surprise…or, I am going to have a shredded curtain one! lol…

I am beginning to think that setting up a private webcam just might be a great idea to see what is happening when I am away from the home—and, to see if the addage of “While the owner’s away, the cats will play!” is truly true!! 😀

What do you think????

dscn2344-lace-curtains-pixalo.jpgLately, I have been having a heck of a time being able to keep curtains up in my apartment because my cats have turned into Dr. Seuss’ “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” and knocked all kinds of stuff upside down and around. Lately, this has been including my curtains as well.

I was laying on the sofa and heard a noise after I had dozed off. I looked up; yep, the curtains are still there!! lol… and I fell back to sleep. But b/4 falling back to sleep, I snapped this dramatic vantage point I had of the curtains.

Hope you enjoy!!!

I was in another part of the same highway and noticed this fire engine that decided to take the upperdeck of the highway at about 4pm that day with its lights on. Normally, not a bad decision as the traffic begins to build up later. Couldn’t get a good shot of it where it had stopped in traffic from where I was near 29th on the east side of the highway.

Drove around to the west side of the highway past 26th and headed to 19th (MLK) off of Red River. Turned back when I saw that I could catch a glimpse of it through the UT practice fields’ gate.

Drove up to the gate at an angle and walked to the gate to capture this picture of the fire engine. It has given up moving forward after sitting there for 45 minutes and turned of its lights. Hoping that there was no fire it still needed to respond to…I hope that all turned out well in the end on Tuesday, June 26th.

I avoid the traffic on IH35 like a plague and, as such, made it a priority for my living and work to be in a whole ‘nother part of town. This particular instance could have been a very serious manner.I have also posted this in my

Inquiring Minds (Austin American Statesman) and
Inquiring Minds (My Fox Austin)

blogs already to jumpstart the issue recognition.
