After getting off of work this morning I took a couple stops along the way and checked out the quality of the bluebonnets thus far this Spring. Yes, the quality!!
When you become an annual bluebonnet dedicated enthusiast like myself, it is like judging the age of the deer by its points on the horns excepting you check out how well the bonnets are stacked on the stem. It is also like being a wine connoisseur, in essence, because one also checks the density and color to judge on how well they are doing.
At this time, they are what I consider “short stacks” meaning that they aren’t exceptionally loaded up with the bonnets — just yet, anyways! Give them another week or two and they may be at their peak bloom. The color is the deepest blue that they have been in a very long time; however, the density could be much better — and probably well get better in due time.
My word of advice: Be patient! I feel that the best of the best are yet to come…..
In the meantime, certainly enjoy the other colorful sights — including this display of hundreds of plastic flamingos in front of a plant shop on the corner of Bee Caves Road and Loop 360. This store utilizes the flamingos in a variety of display gimmicks and themes to capture the attention of passer-bys and potential customers. They have been doing it so long, it is almost tradition to expect something new with each holiday, celebration theme, and/or school sports season as well.
I love the colors in these flowers as well, as posted below, that were discovered in the Davenport Village (Shopping Center) entrance in Westlake. Enjoy!!!
