Received this information in my email today from the American Medical Association (“AMA”) to inform the public about some health care issues and concerns that they have, as well as soliciting help from the public to take action.
From Congress to political candidates to the media, public discussion is increasingly focused on health care, so we want you, a key member of the American Medical Association’s Patients Action Network, to stay as informed as possible. Here are a few key facts to keep in mind:
FACT: Right now, Medicare doesn’t even reimburse your doctor at a level equal to the cost of treating patients, while other health providers are being reimbursed more than the cost of treatment!
FACT: From Alaska to Florida, patients from around the country are calling on Congress to prevent the Medicare cuts from going into effect and jeopardizing seniors’ access to health care.
FACT: The constant cycle of threatened Medicare physician payment cuts has prevented many physicians from making needed investments in trained staff, new medical equipment and health information technology that can help your doctor take the best possible care of you.
FACT: American patients deserve better. Severe Medicare cuts threaten your family’s access to health care. Click here to find out how.
FACT: Your member of Congress needs to hear from you!
